Meet the Player: Ciaran Dignam

Name: Ciaran Dignam
Nickname: Diggy
Age: 34
Occupation: Football coach
How long have you been playing with Rosario? I played for the club at a young age for 3 or 4 years. This is my first season coaching with the 1st team.
If Rosario is your favourite team, who is your second favourite? Man Utd
Who is your favourite player (in any team)? Roy Keane. He was not only a great player captain and leader but a national icon they just don't make them like him anymore.
Who has had most influence on your playing career? Roy Keane for the reasons mentioned above, although Eric Cantona was the player that made me fall in love with football.
What advice would you give to a player starting out? The best advice I could give any young player, as cliched as it may sound, is to stick to what your good at. Don't complicate things and most of all enjoy it.
Do you have a favourite quote or motto? Again it sounds cliched, but ‘be your best you’.
Do you have a pre-match routine? Preparation is key for me. If you prepare the wrong way you won't succeed in showing your real potential.
Most played song? Swedish House mafia- Don't You Worry Child.
Favourite book? Couldn't mention any particular book, but I like a good auto-biography, especially from former players.
Favourite film? Man on Fire or Inbetweeners movie
Favourite TV show? Big bang theory
Most famous person you have ever met? In a previous job I met a lot of famous people, but for me Cristiano Ronaldo was the best. I never really got star struck but his presence was something to behold.
Who would you trade places with for a day? Any Manchester United player that worked under Sir Alex Ferguson just to see how great of a man and mentor he really was.
Who would play you in a movie about your life? Robert de Niro because he can play any character and be amazing.
What is the best thing about Rosario YFC? I can't really say that one specific thing is best. It's just an amazing club to be involved with the people, organisation, mentality, facilities and future plans, the list goes on... I just feel honoured to be part of such a wonderful club.
Where do you think we could improve? Just keep going in the direction we are maintaining standards and fulfilling the high expectations we set for our amazing club.
